Incasso, the Leeds-based Debt Recovery division of the top 50 law firm, Cobbetts, has just completed a £200,000 investment programme in staff and technology.

New technology now allows clients – including Capita and Alliance & Leicester Commercial Finance - to check the progress of each of their cases online through a client extranet. In addition debtors are able to pay not just by cheque but also by credit and debit cards.

A third technological enhancement has seen the introduction of an upgraded telephone system giving both debtors and creditors a wider range of options than in the past, including a dedicated payment line.

The client extranet service was piloted with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Finance whose legal recoveries manager is Samantha Goffin. “We’ve used Incasso for the last two years and we’ve been particularly impressed with its latest extranet service which has allowed us to view accounts and gain immediate answers to queries”, she said.

Earlier this year the 48-strong team, which recovers around £20million annually for clients, was described by Chambers Directory as “a big player in the region”. For the first time the publication ranked Incasso as second equal among all law firms’ debt recovery teams in Yorkshire and the North East.
