Incasso launches consultancy service

Incasso, the Leeds-based Debt Recovery division of the top 50 law firm, Cobbetts, has launched a new problem-solving consultancy service.

The service is geared to meeting objectives set by the client at the outset. The process involves a complete review of the client’s credit control function and debt ledger.

Incasso then produces a detailed report making recommendations for example about how to resolve outstanding disputes and how best to deal with customers. Often the report also reviews the methods of payment used by customers and considers the future of bad debts.

The launch of the service follows a successful pilot last year with several clients including the Leeds builders’ merchants, S&B.

Martin Bown, group financial controller of S&B, said: “From the initial consultation, right through to the final meeting with our directors, Incasso clearly understood what we were looking for and provided detailed analysis, reports and advice on how to help us achieve our targets.”

Other consultancy projects during the pilot stage included working with an in-house accountant to advise on alternatives to factoring and also advising a company which was about to float on AIM about ensuring the compliance of its credit control and collection strategies.

Another project involved working with the European credit manager of a multi-national to identify credit control issues in the UK. It led to partly outsourcing low value debts, freeing the in-house team to focus on high value key customers.
